2015 Umoja Writing Competition

Interested writers are invited to join the Umoja Writing Competition on the theme for 2015 to be 'CHILD' with a short fiction, essay or travel article up to 1,000 words.

The Umoja Writing Competition was created as a fundraiser to contribute to the Umoja Orphanage Kenya Project. The orphanage was founded by Australia Cathy Booth and is supported by Sunrise Rotary Club Bundaberg and Rotary Club of Diani Beach Kenya.

Prizes

• Winner receives $150, trophy, certificate and publication on Umoja Writing Comp website Umoja Home website and Warm Witty Wordsblog (websites). 
• 2nd place receives $50 and certificate and publication on the websites. 
• 3rd place receives certificate and publication on the websites.

Conditions of Entry:

• Entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not have entered in any other competition or publication.
• Entries must be in English only.
• Maximum of 1,000 words, typed on A4 paper, one side only, double spaced and pages numbered or emailed in Word or as a PDF.
• Entrants must be residents of Australia at the time of entry (you do not have to be Australian).
• An entry fee of $25 per story in cheque or money order written in the name of Donna Munro  (All funds banked, cleared, recorded and sent to Umoja Orphanage Kenya Project account once administration expenses, prizes and sponsorship deducted). Or send direct deposit to:

• Payment (or proof of payment) must be sent with each entry form and entry. Receipts only issued via email.
• Name of entrant can only appear on the cover sheet and not anywhere on the story.
• he judges’ decision will be final. No correspondence will be entered into. No entries will be returned.
• Only the short list will be informed of the results, which will be posted on the Umoja Writing Comp, Umoja and Warm and Witty Words websites when the winner is announced.
• Winners will be announced on all websites on during October 2015. Winners will be notified by phone.
